Thanks everyone!
I would like to say THANK YOU for all of your thoughtful comments and for taking the time to read! You guys are great and I look forward to getting to know the fans for Stargate as the season (and hopefully seasons) go on! I really appreciate everything that was written and will try and answer as many questions as I can.
We are coming up on our last week of filming! It feels like it flew by and it is going to be weird to not see everyone each week. As most of you probably know from your interactions with the gang on twitter, we have all become pretty close over the past 9 months. (The photo above is of a trip we all took to Whistler early in the season) Each person on this show is not only a spectacular actor but more importantly a fantastic person!
I thought that "Light" was a beautiful episode. JIMI34 asked about Robert Carlyle. Isn't he so much fun to watch? That last scene with him and Colonel Young was my favorite moment in the episode. Robert brings so much depth to the character and is an absolute pleasure to be around. He is so kind and I am honored to work on a show with him.
Mike, as far as the Scott/Chloe/James situation- I would love to comment on it but all I can say is- you will have to keep watching :)
I do want to thank Ian Leblanc who made me an amazing website this week! Check it out at www.juliabenson.net. He's a web designer and did such a great job, so if you need a website for anything check him out at www.LittleFrogInnovations.com.
That's all for now! Oh, I just got a sneak peak at this weeks episode, "Water" and I think you are all going to love it, it has something for everyone. Hope you enjoy!

Keep up the good work. I'm glad to here you and the cast get along so well. I hope your right and you do stick around for more seasons, hopefully the whole series.
The dog in that picture looks like he's staring into my soul though.
Good job on stargate! You should blog more often i like this litle updates...
Just wanted to say thanks for starting the blog - and for joining Twitter. I love how you guys from SGU have gone above and beyond to connect with the fans.
I've found that it makes it such a neat experience starting a new show - much more interactive.
So thank you, and I've loved SGU so far!
Oh, I was just wondering: you're from Vancouver initially, right? Did you go to high school here?
I'm a current UBC student myself :)
First I have to ask: where was that picture taken? For a minute I thought it was Mammoth Lakes, CA. Probably not though. Thanks for all your (and everyone's) hard work on SGU. I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes.
Around the Stargate fandom there is an almost universal dislike of Lt. Scott and Chloe.
Are those chracters ever going to become likable?
On a side note: Am I the only one who can see an Eli/Lt.James pairing?
@caitlyanna: If I may answer the question about the picture? It's up in Whistler Village - looks to me like the base of Blackcomb...
Haha. Love Jamil's hat in that photo. Here's hoping the ratings stay up and SGU gets a greenlight for season 2 soon.
I'm confused about the comment about Lt. Scott and Chloe... Really? I love those characters!
Ah, Julia Benson. You rock. I love reading your blog. Keep. It. Up!!!!!
Hellooooo Julia. Thanks for taking the time to blog & join the Twittersphere. I've been a Stargate fan from the very beginning & I'm loving SGU. It's also a whole new experience having the interaction with you guys instantly. Commenting on the show as it happens with cast & crew alike was unheard of a few years ago. (although in UK we're a few days behind) What a wonderful thing. Also gives the fans the chance to send links to some of our favourite things too. All hail the internet!!
Looking forward to more seasons of SGU ;0).......... twitter.com/AmboClaire
Looking forward to both the show and your character development. This is a great idea to have a blog to talk to your fans. You know we are fans because this Blog really isn't advertised yet. Looking forward to reading your comments on each show AFTER it airs if possible and your experience filming it.
Ciao!
P.S. Could you also link your Twitter account to Facebook?
Thanks,
Sean Lewis
I really like your character! I hope the writers give her more to do so you can really shine. Looking forward to future blog entries.
Like many of your other fans I love that you folks at #SGU have been so interactive. The show's been fun so far. I'm hoping for more arcs featuring yourself and Ming-Na later this season. Thanks for sharing and being our pal. :-)
I've read on imdb some opinions about SGU from some fans of SG Atlantis and they did not liked it very much. They think that's more similar to Battlestar Galactica than Stargate.
I think that we just wait and watch more episodes, we'll see more action while the first problem will end.
Good luck, it' a great show, and it will may reach 10 season, just like SG1. :D :)
Hi:
Looking forward to learning more about your character. Many viewers I know are peeved with the Lt. Scott character, at the moment. He seems to copulate with anything within reach.
What are the producers attempting to achieve? THe female characters from the past tended on the strong personalities and I would have thought the same for your character.
A first scene with Lt. James, having sex in the broom closet, is a bit different in introducing the character. Then for her sexual partner to have sex with another, does not portray much confidence on the Lt. James.
Hope they don't use the females in the series as sexual relief for the men. That would really be annoying.
Just found your blog.. put it in my rss reader! And am following you on twitter!
I really love your character in SGU so far.. I can't wait to see the next ep.
Love the scene you had in water. I would love to see a eli and Vanessa become a couple just a thought and am excited to see your character continue to be fleshed out! Keep up the great job!
Not sure if you were being sinister or sweet when you were talking to Chloe about Scott's situation on the planet in the "Water" episode.
Liking your character more as the episodes progress. The "Couldn't find a broom closet?" line was great, and does show your character as grown up. Greer is also coming along well: "You're not the only one who can invent things."
That's the kinda stuff I was hoping for, so I am still watching. =)
Yeah I thought Eli was more Chloe's type. Didn't take long for my question to be answered eh? Great line about broom closets! Boy keeps frakking on duty, I am looking forward to the Colonel finding him like that next time.
I'm an USAF veteran from the 80's, and I gotta say women looked a lot better in the old khaki uniforms, the BDU look wrecks the waistline.
BTW: you can cinch the waist in on those BDU shirts. Then again, just leave that off, the tshirt look is better...
I also want to say that Young is not a good commander, there's way too much insubordination in the ranks, which he tolerates too much, Greer and James seem to be among the few who follow orders and aren't regularly derelict on duty. Young is also too obsessed with dialing back to Earth, etc. The whole group of people are too whiney, bitchy, and childish to remind me of a single installation I was ever on, including all the civillian contract workers (who usually tend to be veterans or family of military personnel anyways and know the military routine). The whole "military vs us" BS some of the civvies are pulling isn't realistic, people like that would never have gotten an offworld job as civillian contract workers.
Personally I think the writers are trying too hard to inject conflict into the cast a la BSG and need to focus more on problem solving. You can have as much drama from good teamwork as from conflict.
Happy Halloween! Hope you and your husband are enjoying it! I was surprised it didn't rain here tonight - usually it rains in Vancouver on Halloween, and we've certainly had lousy weather as of late :P
Just wanted to say I loved Water last night!! Great beats, and an awesome episode all around. Keep up the great work! And please don't let some of the vitriolic backlash get you down - there are those of us fans who LOVE the work.
Have a great weekend!

Hello, Julia!
I wanted to tell you how much I liked your character on SGU! I hope they'll give you more screentime in the future, because the whole Chloey/Scott/James-situation has a lot of potential. Especially if you add Eli, who had his own ideas with Chloey in the beginning.
Keep up the good work! Good luck to you and the entire cast & team. I love the way you have put the Stargate-franchise to the next level. Keep exploring new ideas and I'm sure that SGU will go on for many seasons! :)
Oh I missed the photo at Whistler. Great skiing and snow boarding there, I've been there a few times. That's one of the things I miss about no longer being in the pacific northwest. Burbank weather is sun, sun, heat, sun, wildfires, sun, Santa Ana winds, cool sun.... did I mention its sunny a lot? Yeah "weather" doesn't exist here.
For all the complaints that every SG-1 planet looked like British Columbia, at least they all didn't look like Southern California....
Anyways, it looks like everybody is having a good time. Keep up the good work!
Hi Julia! Just wanted to say that I love your work in Stargate Universe this season. To me this is so far the best season yet. I love the story line and all of the actors. Its great that you have this blog for all of your fans! Keep up the great work and I will be a regular here and at your twitter account!
Tommy
OMG, Earth! WTF, Chloe has a BF on Earth who is schtupping her BFF, and she still manages to get some face time with Ian.... I can see Young putting a chastity belt on that girl to keep discipline...
Great post. I really missing your photos. I love your work and you. Good stuff. Always enjoy reading your post.

Julia,
I have to say that Universe brings a much grittier and real aspect to the Stargate franchise. For instance, instead of finding some magical ancient device somewhere on Destiny, the crew had to find a logical(and believable) solution. Nothing against the other Stargate shows, but Universe has finally achieved what the first two lacked. A bit of real "human" struggle. Also, I sincerely hope Vanessa James stays on the show. Definitely the most beautiful astronaut yet for the stargate program. =D
Jeg kan kun sige at jeg er vild med dig, Du er bare fantastisk skøn:O).... love'ing your work with al my hart
