Time
Hey Everyone,
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, life has been crazy busy :)
Thanks for all the character comments and questions, I have responded to a few below!
Collin's Question:
Your profile says you're a producer as well. Would you mind doing a writeup on that? What kind of projects outside of SGU are you working on?
Please keep up the great work! And don't you dare let them kill James off!
Julia's Answer:
Life has been very busy since Stargate finished shooting! I have been working around the clock with my partners on a series that we have in development with a Canadian Network. We are moving into our 2nd phase of development, very exciting! I can't say much more about it at this point but I will dedicate a blog to it when I have more news to report.
Chris's Question:
Not sure if you were being sinister or sweet when you were talking to Chloe about Scott's situation on the planet in the "Water" episode.
Julia's Answer:
I love that the writers gave James this scene. It shows her humanity. James decided that Chloe had the right to know about Scott. I think this gives James strength of character, she was able to put her feelings aside and treat Chloe the way she would like to be treated. It doesn't mean that she is thrilled about the situation or that things will be smooth between them. She did the right thing, even though it was difficult for her. So.... neither sweet nor sinister :) On a side note- Elyse is a great actor to work with, and when things are strained between characters it is so great to work with someone who makes you feel a bunch of different things at the same time. You always go into a scene knowing where your character is coming from but the fun stuff is responding to what the other actor is giving you, and letting your character be moved by something unexpected!
Naddy Cat- I hope that you are enjoying UBC. As per your question- I grew up on the North Shore and spent three of my four years in University at UBC. My second year, I went to York University and was a part of their theater program. But alas, I missed Vancouver and knew that that is where I wanted my life to be. So I came home and graduated from UBC with a degree in Theater and Psychology! Good luck to you and thanks for being such a loyal fan!
I am excited about this week's episode of SGU, "Time", which was written and directed by Robert Cooper. This episode was such a page turner, I couldn't put it down when I first read it! Can't wait to hear what you all think!
PS- I don't spend much time on twitter- so I am more likely to respond to a post on my blog than a tweet!
By the way, I cut a quick demo reel and you can check it out on my website www.juliabenson.net
It is posted under videos!

Loving your character and her integrity in a variety of awkward situations! =)
Not sure how much of a comic fan you are or if you follow mine (Wapsi Square), but I was curious if you had any interest of being part of the Wapsi Girl Project.
Ah, another refreshing post.
Keep it up, Benson!
Saw the kino episode you did on the MGM Stargate website. Looks like Lt. James won't be too happy with Eli (or is Riley responsible again?). Are they headed for a confrontation? I imagine she'd like to have words with him after this, or at the very least report it to Col. Young.
Julia,
Thanks for the in-depth responses, very insightful. The nice thing about replying more on the blog is you can answer in more than 140 characters ;)
As to the moment with James and Chloe, I really thought it was a great one - speaks a lot as to the calibre of James' character.
I am enjoying UBC, but at the same time, it's just so *big* - even in 3rd year, we still have huge class sizes. Which I'm sure you remember.
Did you enjoy psych? I'm doing a BSc in Cognitive Systems, and I'm doing a lot of psyc courses...
Very cool to hear you're from the North Shore! I am too - I graduated from Sentinel Secondary. Where did you go? Did you like it?

The episode "Time" was very impressive. With regards to the scene where Eli was recording everyone, I thought you played the annoyed-but-tolerant part very well.
Great work!
Another excellent bit of work!
Back on SG1 there was a death count on Daniel... I guess "TIME" makes it 1 for Lt. James ( or can you count it as twice)
I seen them put the sheet over Lt. James head and I was thinking to mysel 'NOOOOO they killed her already... thats just not right' and then I realized the "TIME" issue ... never set in stone... those pesky solar flares
OK you seem to be working on many projects, so obviously this is helping your Q' rating. I am surprised this show is doing as well as it is being the latest in the Stargate Franchise. Usually the brand begins to die out, but this show proves that with good characters, plots and writers you can keep a franchise alive.
